For those who accept the challenge of high school, parents have a relatively simple task, just to keep his youthful enthusiasm under control and does not leave them on the calendar of activities for additional programs, she pointed to the increased homework.
For those who fear, teenagers, they will never look at high school, and the first day as something that parents want to have a much harder challenge to have. As a newcomer to high school is a stressful time for those who do not fit in. It could be that your teenager acting out of character, as he begins Moody or irritable during the first few weeks to settle things feel the school. If things are particularly bad, your child may even certain health problems such as headaches, upset stomach and / or sleep disorders.
Move back a few weeks to see if your child is able to sort all this out yourself. Once the first new school stress is gone, and things start to get used to, your child now and then things will settle down to normal. It is not easy to stand back and watch your child suffer, but at this stage it is best to see how they run things on their own, before a larger problem, which can be teething problems.
What you need to do is make yourself available so that if they want to talk about things they can do. Be sure to tell them that all the problems you discussed does not mean you will immediately ring the school and ask for them to do something to improve their situation (even if that is what you really like! do), but you listen, and they want your advice, then you give him. Sometimes just knowing that someone is there, hearing without ruling is helpful for adolescents who are not sure what they really think facing a situation they did not have before.
Be your teen help. You’re not the decision of the lower school of sharks, but now the little fish in the high school has become, and is sometimes a difficult transition to make psychologically. They must show themselves again to get access to groups and clubs. This is a child is not easy – and despite the fact that your child is at the beginning of high school, they are still a child – which was not an abundance of confidence. Help them to practice and promotion of combining their efforts to become a new business approach to social life in their new environment.
Remember that, despite the fact that your child is not easy to enforce the settlement in the High School still limits and rules that they consider what is acceptable and what is not. Take time to discuss what you expect of them, so they very clearly what they must do and what not.
Although most cases of secondary anxiety disappears when young people settle into their new environment, there are others for which there is a big problem. If your teenager is still having problems after a month or two, you should speak once for the school counselor to see what advice they have relatives in this situation. Do not be taken into consideration on the behavior, because if it lasts more than a few months, then it is more likely to do worse instead of better.
